Back in November went to Bristol in the United Kingdom to play in TurnipConV. I flew direct to London and themn took the train from Paddington to Bristol. I gave myself a full rest day after the travel day and before the event day, which I used to wander around Bristol and look at old buildings. In particular I sought out the old St. John's Gate which is the last gate left over from Bristol's medieval city walls. I also took a long walk along the old harbor to see Banksy's lady with pearl earring.
That night I met up with other early arrivals/locals for the next days event and socialized.
The event was at a massive gaming space in a rather hard to get to part of Bristol. The event was three games and they were 2v2 team games where you were paired with a new teammate each round, so in three rounds you played with 9 people total.
My first pairing put my Procession of Woe in partnership with the each Lovers, and, well, we won, and my regiment was there.
Round 2 paired my Rootshrine with the Lopers of Maudlin Marsh. Our brave alliance had to face off against a dire duo of Feast of Charybardis and the Red Ribbon Society. I honestly thought we would be trounced. My regiment was completely tabled going into fourth round but we managed to dispatch our opponents crab and thier Lump for the tie !
The third and final round was a bonkers game of my Procession of Woe + a Tod vs. another Tod + Brotherhood of Greed. This game went long with much ridiculousness and almost timed out, but it felt like a fitting end to an amazing day with so many amazing modelers and players. Thanks to everyone I met, I will never forget this!
That is quite a trip to play a few wargames - outstanding commitment! Bristol is quite a nice city to visit, too.
